HOW TO GET INTO GHOREPANI POONHILL TREK?
On your arrival to Kathmandu, you will have a splendid sightseeing tour around Kathmandu city( Boudhanath, Swayambunath ( Monkey temple), Pashupatinath), and on the next day, you will have a short fly 30minutes from Kathmandu to Pokhara or either you will have 5 hours taking land service( tourist bus) to Pokhara. Then on your arrival to Pokhara, a sightseeing program around Pokhara is there. So the next morning soon after breakfast, you will have a bus service to reach the destination Nayapool which will take around 2 hours. And from Nayapool your journey starts. Your Ghorepani-Poonhill – Ghandruk Trek trail leads your walk through Nayapool- Tikhedhunga- Ghorepani- Poon Hill-Tadapani- Ghandruk- Pokhara and from Pokhara come back to Kathmandu.
WHAT CAN YOU SEE THERE IN GHOREPANI- GHANDRUK-POON HILL TREK?
On the way to Ghorepani Poonhill Trek, you will see mostly Gurung and Magar people with their typical culture and traditions any easy way to know Gorkha. The way of trek takes you into a deep Rhododendron forest with beautiful flora and fauna, observe the distant vision of Mt. Machhapuchre and Mt. Annapurna, see a streaming waterfall, and are heartily welcomed by pink and red rhododendron on the way. Early in the morning, a 1-hour walk from Ghorepani to Poon Hill, there Poon Hill warmly welcomes you with the range of snow-capped mountains and sunrise views over the Himalayas. You will see Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Machhapuchre, Mt. Himchuli, Nilgiri and Mt. Dhaulagiri and Poon Hill stands at an altitude of 3210m.
On Ghandruk, you will see the area is covered by the Gurung community where you get a chance to observe Gurung culture, the Gurung Museum, the Monastery, the headquarters of Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), the community school, etc. Ghandruk is a beautiful village located on a sloppy hill. From Ghandruk you will get a beautiful image of Mt. Machhapuchre and Mt. Annapurna south and Himchuli in front of your eyes. The people over there are so kind and overwhelming.
WHAT TYPE OF ACCOMMODATION IS THERE IN GHOREPANI POON HILL- GHANDRUK TREK?
During your stay in Kathmandu and Pokhara, you will have an accommodation service according to your choices. Most accommodations over the destinations offer a twin-sharing basis loge and a Single supplement will also be served on request but the extra amount should be added while on the trek. But in Ghorepani and Ghandruk, there is a room with an attached bathroom, a clean bedroom, and toilets.
HOW DIFFICULT THE POON HILL TREK IS?
Ghorepani Poonhill trekking is the shortest and quite easy trek compared to other higher-altitude trekking areas of Nepal there won’t be any difficulties. But the second day of the trek is a little difficult as you need to climb up a steep stone staircase “3380 steps in total”, from Tikhedhunga to the Ghorepani, 1385 meters of altitude reached in a day is not to be taken lightly. The trekking duration each day will depend on your physical fitness level and how much you like to pause to enjoy the views
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME FOR THE GHOREPANI POONHILL HIKE?
The favorable time for this hike is month February to May and August to December. But if you prefer traveling in the winter season December and January, that is also available.
HOW’S THE WEATHER AT GHOREPANI POONHILL GHANDRUK TREK DESTINATION?
Trekking in the Annapurna region is the best in spring (End of February to May) and autumn (August to November). The days are sunny and warm but the nights are a bit cold at Ghorepani. Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is doable all season of the year.
